Q. What is a Parade of Homes?
A. A Parade of Homes is an event in which a variety of homes built by different builders are open to the public. Other related activities, such as home improvement workshops and drawings for prizes, are also part of the event. A Parade of Homes gives consumers a great way to see various building materials, designs, floor plans, interior décor and craftsmanship up close, whether they are planning to build a new home or remodel an existing home. There is nothing like seeing the real thing and seeing the way different builders do it.
Q. What is the difference between a single site and multi site Parade of Homes?
A. As the term indicates, a single site Parade is held at a single site, usually on one street. As such, visitors can walk from home to home. At a multi site Parade, the homes are scattered throughout a larger area, and visitors have to drive to each location.
Q. Where are the homes in the HBA Parade of Homes?
A. The HBA Parade is a combination Parade with a single site of five homes in the King’s Ridge community in Green surrounded by 13 homes in an area from Hudson to Uniontown.
Q. Does it cost money to attend?
A. The single site admission is $7, but consumers can get discounts from $1 off to $2 off and an additional $1 off for bringing a canned good to the single site. Donations from consumers will benefit the Blessings in a Back Pack program for Green school children. Consumers may visit any of the multi site Parade homes at no charge.
Q. What should I wear to a Parade?
A. Casual clothing and comfortable walking shoes are best, such as flat walking shoes with rubber soles. High heels are discouraged. Consumers may be asked to wear surgical booties over their shoes to keep the carpeting and floors clean.
Q. What is there to do at a Parade other than go through homes?
A. The highlight is always the homes and the decorating but the single site is themed, “ A celebration of Green living”. Obviously, the homes are located in the City of Green and the Green School district will display why Green is a great location. Student artwork will be in the homes and student musical groups will be roaming the Parades site providing entertainment. Chamber members will be on hand and providing you with parking assistance. They will readily answer any questions you may have about the City. In addition to music there will be food and a series on workshops in the homes on everything topic ranging from Green Living, Color trends in Design, what to expect when building a new home, kitchen Design, outdoor living and more. All this is included in your admission!
Q. Where do visitors park?
A. At the multi site Parade of Homes, visitors may park on the street where each home is located. At the single site, visitors will be directed to a graded area of the subdivision. From there, they will walk across the street, through an entry tent and down the drive of the first home. Visitors with handicaps will be able to park on the actual Parade street.
